Sharon Gail Gardner, 83, of Atlanta, Michigan passed away on March 3, 2020 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. She was born on May 23, 1936 to Hubert and Vera (Johnston) McKenzie in Atlanta, Michigan. She married John Gardner Jr. on December 28, 1953 in Atlanta. Sharon grew up in Atlanta, then traveled with her husband during  his career in the Air Force before returning permanently to her home in Atlanta in 1974. She was an amazing woodcarver. She has had many pieces displayed and sold throughout the years, including carved door panels at the Woodworkers Shoppe, wood decoys and a hummingbird for a carousel. She also enjoyed egg carving, quilting, painting, and making stained glass.

Sharon drove a school bus for the Atlanta schools, drove the Senior citizen bus and worked with the Briley Township ambulance. She served as a 4H leader and Cub Scout leader with her children. She worked as an LPN for Dr. Cousineau and with VitalCare for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, camping  and tending her garden. Sharon was always concerned about her family and work. She was a great listener and always ready with a helping hand. Above all else,  she loved spending time with her family, especially the summers spent passing on her skills to her children and grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Fred) Oliva of Alpena, MI,  and Bev (Jim) Lamers of Wilmot, South Dakota; son, John (Margie) Gardner of Atlanta, MI; 15 grandchildren; many  great and great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Monna Allen of Gaylord, MI, Royla (Dwayne) Westphal of Johannesburg, MI, and Lynell (Tom) Radewahn of Lake, MI, brother-in-law Stan (Ann) Gardner of Atlanta, MI.
