William Ekrut

William “Bill” August Ekrut, 69 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away on April 13, 2023. He was born in Yale, Michigan on July 9, 1953, to the late, Carl and Eileen (DeMar) Ekrut. His family moved to Lewiston, where Bill graduated from High School in 1971. He lived in Atlanta where he met and married his wife, Kathleen (Daly) Ekrut on June 20th, 1987, and together the couple celebrated 35 years of marriage, living in Canton, Michigan. Bill worked for 30 years as a mechanical engineer, supervisor, and industrial electrician for Ford/Visteon. In 2017, he retired and moved back to Atlanta where he has resided for the last 6 years. He enjoyed watching the Food Channel and loved to cook and create new recipes. He especially loved to barbecue with his family.  A memorable experience for Bill was in 1984, when he drew the only elk tag for Montmorency County during the first Elk Hunt.  He was an avid Clint Eastwood fan and had a great sense of humor, always with a smile on his face. He is and will be deeply missed.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Ekrut of Atlanta; children, Heather Faircloth (Pat McGrail) of Atlanta; son, Scott (Michelle) Ekrut of Hillman; Laurie Ekrut of Hudsonville; grandchildren, Breanna Stewart of Williston, North Dakota; Chase Faircloth of Gaylord; Colleen Ekrut, Cyle Ekrut, Caysen Ekrut all of Hillman; great-grandchild, Casey Faircloth of Ossineke; brother, Carl Ekrut of Lapeer; sisters, Rosemary Hartung of Gaylord; and Vera Cipolla of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eileen Ekrut.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service held in his memory at a later date.
